The Gift of Energy (Spirit)
It’s Sunday and there’s no school, nor are there any other plans for the day. The day is wide open. A child tracks down his Mother and asks "Mom, what should I do?" Mom starts making suggestions; "Why don’t you draw something?" or "How about reading a book?" A list follows, something on Mom's list ignites the spirit in the boy, and off he goes, compelled into action.
When we are inspired (in spirit), we experience an influx of energy. This is the nature of spirit. It is the energy of inspiration. The importance of spirit in healing is paramount, for nothing moves without energy. Our health and vitality depend on it, and recovery equally requires it. Energy in all our behavior follows the patterns of expression that are true to our nature. This is true for all organized patterns of energy functioning as organisms in the natural world. However, too much energy can cause an organism to burn up and too little can cause the same organisms to stop functioning.
Similarly, we refer to the spirit in which we do things. We can overcompensate and push which applies too much energy or we can hold back and apply too little. Every behavioral pattern has an appropriate level of energy required to sustain it. It is related to our hearts and how we feel. Spirit is connected to commitment and passion. Too much or too little energy is a sign as to what degree "our hearts are in it."
Spirit, in conjunction with consciousness and matter are present and active in every kingdom and species in the natural world. Though they may be called by different names in these conditions, they remain essentially the same. Spirit, in its rawest form is energy, pure and simple. It is not energy with any direction, but simply the infinite capacity to bring an idea into form. Just like the child triggered by the image of playing outside on the swing runs to do just that, all things in the natural world react to the imprint of what best works to realize their nature in expression. When a natural predator catches the smell of prey, the animal is off running towards it instinctively, triggered by the imprint and allocating the appropriate amount of energy to track it down.
Spirit is not bound, but boundless. Consciousness provides direction, and matter provides the glue. Spirit is the single media that nature uses to build all that it builds. Modern science agrees, insisting that all matter (everything that we touch) is energy. Just as an artist might choose paint or clay, spirit is the only media that the whole makes use of to create form.
Spirit is abundant, responsive, and infinite. Possibility, in its infinite spirit, answers the call of consciousness as it imagines its own potential. Conflicting messages or an incomplete vision might distort energy or prevent it from emerging. Spirit as energy, everlastingly fills and fulfills all needs within the whole
